Fitness to Drive Program

Fitness to Drive Program Satori Health

The Fitness to Drive program at Satori Health is an objective, science-based driver fitness evaluation recognized by the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) standards and Alberta Transportation Driver Fitness & Monitoring. Satori Health is committed to ensuring the safety and fitness of drivers through comprehensive, timely, and reliable assessments for medically-at-risk individuals.

Program Overview

The Fitness to Drive program includes a specialized assessment track:

•    Fitness to Drive: Medically-at-risk Driver Assessment Program: Designed for individuals who may have medical conditions affecting their driving ability.

Value

Patients and clinicians benefit from the Fitness to Drive program through:

•    Reduced Wait Times: Faster access to assessments compared to other similar programs.
•    Comprehensive and Objective Assessments: Utilizing science-based methods to reduce subjectivity and assist clinicians in making critical decisions.
•    Recognized and Supported Assessments: Official recognition by Alberta Transportation Driver Fitness and Monitoring, ensuring the credibility of our evaluations.
•    Trusted Network: Providing the Alberta physician network with a reliable resource for patient referrals, ensuring continuity of care.

How the Program Works

The Fitness to Drive program involves a multi-step process to thoroughly assess driver fitness:

1.    Patient Booking: Patients can be referred by a healthcare provider or self-refer.
2.    Medical Assessment: Conducted by licensed nurse, this step takes approximately 10 minutes.
3.    Cognitive Assessment: Performed by a trained team member, lasting about 40 to 50 minutes.
4.    On-Road Assessment: Conducted by a licensed driving instructor, this practical driving test takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
5.    Report Production: Results are scored using the Impirica Algorithm for a thorough and objective assessment.

Cost of Assessments

As an uninsured health service, the Fitness to Drive program offers a variable fee structure. The fee for regular patients is $550 + GST and reduced fees are available to patients on government-sponsored income support programs.
